Are Bubble Baths Moisturizing?

Posted by

While you may feel sensational when you slip into a tub full of blissful, billowy bubbles, your skin may not feel all that sensational once you emerge. That's because not all bubble baths contain ingredients known to moisturize your skin. In fact, some ingredients used can instead make your skin rather irritated and itchy after a bubble bath, something we all want to avoid.

A moisturizing bubble bath will contain several key ingredients known for making you and your skin feel sensational both during and after your bath.

Moisturizing Bubble Bath Ingredients

Bubble baths contain surfactants, which are the components that make the bubbles but don't necessarily enhance your skin. Two quality choices here are sodium laureth sulfate and sodium lauryl sulfate. They are typically near the top of the ingredient list if you're looking at a bubble bath known for making bounteous, beautiful bubbles.

Keep moving down the list of ingredients, and the best moisturizing bubble baths will contain a number of natural ingredients known for enhancing and nourishing the skin. Two quality choices here are superfruits and vitamins.

Superfruits that can help nourish and revive skin include goji, coffee, green tea, mangosteen, coffee, noni and pomegranate. All of these superfruits are rich with antioxidants, which can restrain the negative effects of skin-damaging free radicals. Some also contain fatty acids that help with flushing out toxins and constructing healthy skin cell membranes.

Vitamins known for their skin-enhancing capabilities include vitamins A, B3, C, E and pro-vitamin B5.

  • Vitamin A for skin: Vitamin A aids with healthy skin cell production while also stimulating fibroblasts, which are cells that develop the tissue that keeps skin healthy and firm.
  • Vitamin B3 for skin: This vitamin comes with many benefits, including helping to reduce wrinkles, acne, hyperpigmentation, uneven skin tone and topical inflammation.
  • Vitamin C for skin: This vitamin's antioxidant properties help with skin health, as does the role it plays in making collagen. Some studies suggest that vitamin C may help treat and prevent damage from ultraviolet rays.
  • Vitamin E for skin: Long known for its ability to help soothe nourish and protect the skin, vitamin E is a potent antioxidant that may also help reduce UV damage.
  • Pro-vitamin B5 for skin: Pro-vitamin B5 transforms into vitamin B5 when its absorbed by the skin, providing a range of benefits that include healing, soothing, regenerating and moisturizing the skin.

Increasing Skin Benefits Even Further

In addition to including ingredients that help your skin, the best moisturizing bubble baths will avoid potentially harmful components. These include things like parabens, dyes, phthalates, silicones, phenoxyethanol and propylene glycol. Give your bubble bath extra credit if it also happens to leave out gluten and soy.

Now that you know what to look for in a moisturizing bubble bath, all that's left to do is find one. Vitabath® Luxury Bath Products has several.
